Sandhill cranes and other crazy occurences

in a Surreal but a very nice day to remember.
It started with a Gentle sunrise after being on the road since ~5:30am.
Then a hawk made the car stall and we didn't even get the picture... Farmer(s), winery manager(s) wanted or didn't want to help out, but it was the dependable, however slow AAA, that jump-started up 2 hrs later. After - there was but it wasn't. Woodbridge, that is, - not the winery, but the wildlife regional place. It's spelled w-i-l-d - L-i-f-e - (not w-i-n-e - whatever) and should be taught even to pizzeria staff.. Even in (the proximity of) Napa.
And there still wasn't even in Lodi - with the absent tourist information office despite the signs for it all the way to downtown..
Then, a dream came true (not without the bookstore girl's help) and we were in a field full of sandhill cranes. All that was left - to leave the camera on auto, kick back - and lazily click on the cable shutter release button without even looking in the viewfinder - also part of the dream. Well, didn't quite work that way. Anyway..
The car wouldn't start again.. (Btw, Girls with jumper cables were much appreciated as rear as they were..)
"they'd do that to ya" (cranes) .. ya..h
Thank you, crane girl!
Shhhhhh!! Yes, i can't tell and will keep our secret. :)))
Meeting you - fresh, funny and helpful made it worth it the dying battery and all this and that up to then. (What a funny coincidence after meeting with the the condor chick(s) a week ago..)
Jose was right - there are always the adventures.. (when out with me..) He was also maybe right sleeping in - some days are rather to stay in bed instead and that was turning to be one of them..
But no.. wait!
That was before the incredible tranquility of the marshes, riparian forest, the oaks as they were in pretty California before the settlers, and the meandering Cosumnes in the Delta, all started to unfold.. ProFound, deep, quiet, only occasionally teared by a bird's scream silence which easily blended back with the omnipotent, abysmal as the genesis quiescence...
And it was just that wonderful and splendid.. while one-legged cranes were falling from the sky... What a day. What a serene and great place...
(Be back there asap...)
